00/00/0000 - F.S.Mackenzie successfully moves Silos from England to Greece

A valued F.S.Mackenzie client with an office in Greece recently decommissioned their site in Bradford, asking for our specialist expertise in order to move one of their silos from Bradford, England, to our client's premises in Komotni, Greece.

Although the silo was broken down in to separate parts it was still deemed too large and so classed as 'out of gauge'.

Our client requested to load 1 x 40'FT Flat Rack, which would be out of gauge and require special handling.

The loading of the flat rack was completed from their warehouse with use of a fixed crane. Once they had loaded the Silo on to the flat rack it became clear that they could not remove the Silo from the warehouse because of its height.

F.S.Mackenzie were called in to resolve the situation: we employed the services of a specialist haulage company who offered us a low loader with a loading base which was low enough for us to get the Silo and parts safely out of the warehouse doors and down to Quay for loading on to the Flat Rack.

The Flat Rack is currently at sea, making its way to Thessaloniki, Greece, the port it has been booked for.
