Government and airlines rally to enforce tighter Airfreight Security Rules

An announcement has been made that all flights containing unaccompanied air freight from Yemen and Somalia are to be banned.

There are also tighter restrictions on transporting toner cartridges by air, which most of the airlines have already put into practice.

The main factors of the above announcement are:

1:

Amid the Ink Tonner scares, Known Consignors are still allowed to ship Ink and Toner cartridges weighing more than 500g providing the usual security controls are followed.

2:

Any cargo, courier material or mail greater than 6 millimetres in thickness or 250grams in weight, which has originated from, or which has passed through, Yemen or the Republic of Somalia is now banned on any flights into
the UK.

3:

Any Ink and Toner cartridges weighing more than 500g originating from any country other may be flown into the UK, the ban only applies to the Yemen or the Republic of Somalia may be flown into the UK.
